Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer began a new ministry to the community in October, 2009. The Enfield Food Shelf our the town’s community food bank. The congregation has always participated in collecting and donating non-perishable food items throughout the year. But a need was presented to the congregation—personal care items. Food Shelf clients are in great need of simple things like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, razors, shave cream, diapers, baby wipes and so on. So what does the Lord do? He opens a door for His Gospel!
The congregation collects personal care items throughout the month at the church (all of which is donated by members!) Once a month, members of the congregation take these items to the Food Shelf, set up at their table, and meet and greet the clients while the clients pick up what they need. LCOR members also give out Bibles marked and highlighted with God’s plan of salvation in Jesus. Members also give out small silver crosses, telling the adults and children how much Jesus loves them—so much so that He died and rose to be their Savior and Friend. LCOR has this Food Shelf Ministry because we want people to know the love of Jesus.
Our monthly ministry to the Enfield Food Shelf needs YOU. Totes have been placed in the back of the church to collect the following. Please, help as you are able. There are great needs in our community.
